Scott and Laura Hedgecock have an amazing ministry to the Hispanic community here in Montgomery. Several years ago they moved into an RV in a community off of Troy Highway. There they live out the Gospel before their friends in their everyday lives. In addition, they lead a ladies Bible study group, a men’s group, a kids club, and a guys basketball group with devotion, as well as do one on one discipleship.

The Regency Park community in which they live has many needs.  As the school year begins, there are some very practical ways we can help serve our community...

  • DONATING NEW BOOK BAGS (BACKPACKS) & UNIFORMS FOR KIDS
Many of the children in their neighborhood can not afford a book bag for school or the required school uniform. Would you (or one of your small groups at Gateway) consider adopted a family and providing book bags and school clothes for the kids of one family in the neighborhood?

August 2 Update ~ The urgent need is school uniforms.  All the backpacks needed have been provided!  If you would like to help with the remaining need for uniforms, those will need to be provided by this Sunday.  Contact Scott and Laura (see below) to learn about the shirt colors and sizes needed for a family.

  • TUTORING KIDS AFTER SCHOOL
On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Scott and Laura provide free tutoring and homework help for the neighborhood kids. More and more kids are coming for help, and they need people to help them in this ministry.

  • CHILDCARE FOR LADIES BIBLE STUDY
Childcare for up to 15 kids is needed on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. while Laura teaches a bible study for the ladies in the neighborhood.

If you would like to serve in any of these ways, please contact Scott and Laura for information…
