Men, you are invited to take part in a two-day, one-night adventure to the scenic Cheaha Wilderness in Talladega National Forest in northeast Alabama that combines hiking and camping along the trail with Bible study.  We will unplug from technology, seek some adventure, hang out by the campfire and spend some time with the Creator in His creation.  No previous backpacking experience is required but space is limited.

We will hike 7.25 miles, beginning at Cheaha Trailhead, which is located very close to Mount Cheaha, the highest point in Alabama. From the trailhead, we’ll take the Pinhoti Trail south and camp high on the bluffs of scenic McDill Point. Then we will continue on the Pinhoti and loop back to the trailhead on the Cave Creek Trail.  The Cheaha Wilderness is a rugged, rocky, mountainous area. The route does not include sustained elevation gains but there are a few steep climbs.  Anyone in decent shape should have no problem.  Some loaner gear is available for those new to backpacking, or we can provide guidance as to what gear you will need to acquire.

We will leave Montgomery around noon on Friday, May 3, and return by late afternoon on Saturday.  All participants must sign a waiver, pay for the trip, and commit to attend a pre-trip meeting the week before the trip to go over all the details and check our gear.

The cost is just $20 per person which must be paid when you register.

(Please note - Due to park backpacking regulations and for everyone's safety, group size is limited.  When the trip reaches capacity, you will be notified on the registration page and have an option to add yourself to a waiting list.  We plan to make this the first of many trips like it!)
