The Gateway Kids pine-wood car derby is coming soon on April 28!  Kids 6th grade and below (and their parents) are invited to build a car and compete in this fun afternoon!  Here is what you need to know...

Date:         Sunday, April 28
Time:        Car check-in and weigh-in begins promptly at 2:30 p.m.
Location:  Gateway Gym

RACE DETAILS:

We are excited to have Montgomery's Trail Life boys group joining us for this year's competition!

We will race on an aluminum track with electronic timers and software that randomizes the competitors for each race.  Every child will get to see their car race four times down the track throughout the event.

Car kits are available from Amazon.  In addition, Michael’s has a limited selection of kits.  Car kits for Boy Scouts, Awana, and Royal Ambassadors all can be used for this event.

Encourage your child to build as much as possible of the cars with age appropriate construction methods.

A scale will be available on meeting nights to get the car close as close to the maximum weight of 5 ounces.

RACE RULES:

  • Each car must be under a maximum weight of 5 ounces.  All cars will be weighed on the same scale the day of the race.

  • The car width must remain close to stock to not impede other cars in the adjacent lanes.

  • Have fun building it and racing it!

If you have questions, please contact Brad Mooney.  We hope to see you on race day!
