Gateway Family,

Through your prayer and financial support, God has continued to bless the Capitol Heights Middle (CHMS) School ministry team with opportunities to faithfully take the Gospel to this school right here in Montgomery!  We want to make you aware of a new opportunity to pray for and to consider joining to serve with us.

A need has arisen for tutoring for some of the students at the school.

In particular, 40 - 45 of the 8th graders are failing one or more classes and are urgent need for tutoring.  CHMS wants these students to be able to pass their 8th grade classes so they can advance to high school and feel prepared in doing so. For the most part, these students are barely failing one class and just need a little extra attention in that particular subject area.

The tutoring will take place on CHMS' campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., with the first week of tutoring beginning on Tuesday, March 24th. Our job as tutors will be to help the students complete the projects recently assigned to them by their teachers.  For those who are interested in tutoring, it would be ideal if we could meet with the students twice a week, but we understand that this is going to depend on everyone's schedule.

Will you consider volunteering to help tutor these kids?

We need around 8 - 10 tutors to provide enough help for the students who are in most need of help. If you are interested, please let Seth Rhodebeck know. This is an amazing opportunity to serve the Lord and develop gospel relationships. There is no great skill needed to help these students, just a desire and willingness to share the love of Christ with some of the most marginalized kids in our city.

Even if you are unable to commit to tutoring, please pray with me that the Lord would provide tutors for this incredible opportunity to go on mission here in Montgomery. Matthew 9:36-38 says, "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples,'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"

Please pray with us for laborers for the harvest.  Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
