Men, you are invited to take part in a two-day, one-night adventure to the scenic Cheaha Wilderness in the Talladega National Forest in northeast Alabama that combines hiking and camping along the trail with Bible study and devotional time. We will unplug from technology, seek some adventure, hang out by the campfire, and spend some time with the Creator in His creation as we study God's Word and pray together. No previous backpacking experience is required, but space is limited. Advanced registration is required (see below).
Our hike will take us 8 miles over the two days along the Pinhoti Trail, up by McDill Point, and then down the Chinnabee Silent Trail. The Cheaha Wilderness is a rugged, rocky, mountainous area. Our route does not include sustained elevation gains, but there are a few steep climbs. Some loaner gear is available for those new to backpacking.
We will leave Montgomery on Friday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. and return by late afternoon on Saturday. We will have a required pre-trip meeting the week of the trip to go over all the details and get your loaner gear to you.
The cost is $20 per person for van transportation and for our dinner on Friday night at the camp-site. Advanced registration is required.
