FireTowerHike2022.jpg

Men, join us for a day of fellowship and adventure as we explore the Smith Mountain Fire Tower area of Lake Martin!  This hike is open to all men and boys, so dads you are welcome to bring your sons with you for it.

There is no cost, but advance registration is required (see below).

THE HIKE:

First, we will hike the half-mile trail to the restored fire tower. There you will have a chance to climb to the top for some very scenic views of Lake Martin and the surrounding area.

After exploring the tower, we will hike the Lakeshore Trail to the Island Hopper Trail.  We will be able to explore several small islands that are only accessible by foot when the lake is lowered during the winter months.  We will take a lunch/snack break while on the islands, so please bring a simple lunch/snack with you.

Finally, we will return to the parking lot via the Lakeshore Trail.

The hike will be a total of about 4 miles.
