The elder team believes it is important for you to hear from us from time to time about what is going on in the life of the church.
First, we would love your prayers for us as we serve you in the roles where God has placed us. Second, as we head into the summer and fall, we want to let you know what we are learning and what we are doing for the next season.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
On Sunday mornings, we recently finished 1 Peter and now will begin a six week series on prayer. We believe God wants to grow us as a church in our individual prayer lives, our family prayers, our small group prayers, and praying together as a body of believers. We are asking the Lord to use His Word to grow us in these areas as we study them together on Sunday mornings through mid-August.
Then we will begin preaching through Genesis 1-11. These first chapters at the beginning of the Bible show us so much about the nature of God and His plans for His people. We are looking forward to studying this part of the Old Testament together as we look at God’s big story.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS THIS FALL
Wednesday nights resume on August 16, and will look a little different this fall. While the kids and youth will continue as usual, instead of the separate men’s and women’s small groups, all the adults will come together for a study of the attributes of God. This time will be split between teaching and small group discussions and prayer time. This will be a great time to learn from each other about how we can see God’s glory and how it applies to our lives.
COMMUNITY
There is a great desire here at Gateway — as we have heard from many of you — for authentic, Christian community, a desire to know, and be known by your Gateway family, to experience deeper connections as we grow up together in Christ. This has been and is a great topic of conversation for us as we discuss how best to cultivate community here at Gateway where we gather around the Word, pray for one another, and share life together.
We want to encourage each of you to intentionally pursue community and growing relationships here. There are a variety of ways to plug in including Sunday morning Bible studies, Wednesday nights, and in small groups that meet at different times during the week. You can find all of those listed here on our web site under the ministries tab at the top.
In addition to these events, we encourage you to start conversations, introduce yourselves, and share meals together.
