We are excited to offer Gateway men an overnight backpacking adventure to the scenic Pine Mountain Trail in Georgia on April 5-6 (Saturday to Sunday). We will be immersed in God’s creation as we explore the waterfalls and a scenic mountain view along the best parts of the trail in west Georgia, about 1.5 hours from Montgomery. We will hike in with our food and gear in our packs, and camp at a designated campsite on the trail. This trip is open to men and youth guys 7th grade and up.

THE HIKE - The Pine Mountain Trail is a scenic mountainous trail located within F.D. Roosevelt State Park, near Callaway Gardens in Georgia. We will continue to hike hilly mountainous terrain until we reach our campsite, which is already reserved for the night. The total hiking mileage for Saturday is about 6 miles. On Sunday, we will continue on the trail for several miles to Dowdell’s Knob, a scenic mountain overlook area. We will end our hike at the Mollyhugger Hill parking area. The total hiking distance for Sunday is 5.5 miles. The trail is rated as moderate with lots of hilly areas, rocky areas and several climbs. More information about the trail is available on the Pine Mountain Trail Association website.
