Gateway’s 7th-12th-grade teen guys are invited to join us for a road trip to the Fortify Teen Guy Conference on Saturday, August 29, in Alabaster, Alabama. Fortify is a one-day conference organized by the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. The main speaker this year is Pastor Daniel Atkins of Taylor Road Baptist Church here in Montgomery. The conference will feature three main sessions and two breakout sessions (see the list of breakout sessions below).
Fortify is a transformative one-day event focused on building a strong, Christ-centered identity amid today’s self-absorbed culture. Through impactful biblical teaching, engaging worship, and practical breakout sessions, your teen guys will gain vital tools to navigate life’s challenges and rise above the noise of culture.
In addition, they will be able to attend two of these breakout sessions:
- Dads Dropping Truth: Dads Offer Practical Advice on Biblical Friendship and Dating
- How to Help a Friend Struggling with Pornography
- How to Disciple or Mentor Other People
- Identity: Who God Says You Are
- For leaders / Addressing AI: Potential Uses and Dangers
We know that some of these topics are geared toward older teens. If there are sessions that you prefer your son not to attend, please communicate that ahead of time to our trip leaders, as well as to your son, so they can attend another session.
IMPORTANT CONFERENCE DETAILS
When: The conference is Saturday, August 29, from 10 a.m.until 4:30 p.m. We will carpool to the conference, leaving Montgomery around 7:45 a.m., and returning around 6:00 p.m.
Where: Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama (a suburb of Birmingham)
Leaders: Daniel Paulk and Mike Presley will serve as chaperones and drivers. Additional chaperones will be added as needed.
Cost: $25 per person, which also includes a Chick-Fil-A box lunch and a conference hat!
