WHAT ARE GATEWAY'S STUDENTS LEARNING?
As the spring semester winds down and summer begins, we want to take a minute to let you know what our students (grades 7-12) are doing on Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS ~ 6 p.m.
"Living Sacrifices" - A Study of Romans 12
Recently one of Gateway's founding members and a World War II veteran, Ray Bozeman, passed away. After his amazing celebration of life service, I began dwelling on the idea of being a "living sacrifice" from Romans 12:1. Ray modeled this concept so well for all of us over the years that we were blessed to have him serving among us. Since then, our students have been studying verse by verse through Romans 12 on Wednesday evenings. It has been a very challenging passage of scripture and the students have engaged with it very well. We continue to rely on the grace of Christ at work within us to help us live a life that is worthy of the calling we have received. Please join us in praying for our students to "not be conformed to this world" (v. 2) but to "overcome evil with good" (v. 21).
SUNDAY MORNINGS ~ 9 a.m.
John Piper's Study: "The Blazing Center"
Everything in your life (your labor, leisure, thoughts and feelings) should be held in orbit by the greatness of Jesus Christ at the center of your life. When He ceases to be at the center, things in your life fly into confusion. We are learning more about this truth through John Piper’s powerful teaching that was recorded during a retreat for youth leaders and students. Our study of The Blazing Center is helping our students discover surprising insights about the reality of sin, how love for God is really revealed, and how only joy in Him will sustain us through times of suffering.
